Country crooner Keith Urban will headline at Canada’s Largest New Years bash at Queen Victoria Park . It is the 6th New Year’s Eve show broadcast by Global, who announced the line-up during Monday night’s ET Canada broadcast.
According to Global News, Nick Jonas said he is “thrilled” to be part of the sixth annual show. “It’s going to be an unforgettable night,” he said.
The previous New Years show was the most viewed show in Canada, with ratings peaking at midnight with more than 3.4 million viewers.
The Niagara Falls New Year’s concert in Queen Victoria Park (QVP) draws approximately 50,000 people to the Park, and this year is expected to be no different, so come out and celebrate with us and enjoy two spectacular fireworks displays planned for 8:45 p.m. and midnight that evening.
Keith Urban: One of country music’s biggest stars of the past decade, and also one of the judges on American Idol. Born in New Zealand and raised in nearby Australia, Keith Urban made his biggest splash in Nashville, where he helped rewrite the rules of contemporary country music. By embracing drum loops and elements of Top 40 pop, Urban wrote songs that appealed to a wide audience, effectively satisfying his Nashville fans without alienating those more accustomed to pop music. He also became a genuine celebrity, known for his good looks, his marriage to Nicole Kidman, and his outspoken battle with alcoholism. Even so, it was the music that maintained Urban’s career, from his work with the Ranch during the late ’90s to the acclaimed solo albums that followed.
Nick Jonas: As the unspoken leader of the Jonas Brothers, Nick Jonas attracted legions of young fans with his fizzy, Disney-approved pop songs early in his career. Following this Jonas began working with several other musicians on a side project in late 2009. Members from Prince’s New Power Generation were recruited to join the lineup, including Michael Bland and Tommy Barbarella, and the group dubbed itself Nick Jonas & the Administration before making its debut in early 2010 with the album Who I Am that. After a few years spent on other projects, Nick Jonas regrouped with a 2014 solo tour followed by the November release of an eponymous album.

Shawn Mendes: A teen Choice award winner this year, will be an opening act for Taylor Swift’s 2015 world tour. A teen pop artist who broke records with his debut single, singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. After posting a series of his cover versions to various video-sharing sites, Mendes earned himself a following tens of thousands of viewers strong. His mix of Ed Sheeran style with Justin Bieber appeal also appealed to Island Records, who signed Mendes in 2014. That same year they released the then 15-year-old’s debut single, “Life of the Party.” American radio initially ignored it, but the track entered the Billboard 100 singles chart at number 24, making Mendes the youngest artist to land a debut single in the Top 25. The song was also included on Mendes’ four-track Island debut, The Shawn Mendes EP.
Lights
Lights first cracked the Canadian charts in May 2008, when the debut single “Drive My Soul” introduced her synthesis of youthful, sellable alt-rock and contemporary synth pop. An American partnership with Doghouse Records followed, and the young songwriter issued her first recording, the self-titled Lights EP, in April 2008. Several singles found a warm reception on Canadian radio outlets, while Lights’ vibrant attire and good looks made her an endearing presence on MuchMusic’s TV countdown. Early the following year, Lights won a Juno Award for New Artist of the Year and landed a spot on that summer’s Warped Tour. Many succesfful albums followed, including an acoustic version of the highly regarded Siberia. In 2014, Lights released her 3rd studio album, Little Machines, which showcased a return to a more stripped-down and melodic, if no less electronic-inclined, sound. Lights was one of the headliners for this year’s S.C.E.N.E. music festival in St. Catharines and is touring in support of her new album, Little Machines.
Live television coverage of this spectacular show and event will be broadcast on Global Live at 10:00 PM EST. Last year’s New Year’s Eve broadcast on Global reached 3.45 million viewers! Over 40,000 people joined us in Queen Victoria Park for this incredible event.
